Former Romanian President Traian Basescu on Thursday stated that he did not have any fears related to the possibility he could could end up in arrest, since there is not a single person in Romania that could claim he/she gave him money.

When asked about the medical exam that is done in prison considered to be humiliating by Elena Udrea [his former collaborator and party colleague], Basescu replied: "I don't know about the rules in prisons and, since you referred to this, I want to say that, no matter how much some might like it to see me there, there is no reason for me to end up by being arrested, since there is no one in Romania that could possibly claim he/she gave me any money. Although, of course, there could be many who could claim it, but they also have to prove it. I have no fears in relation to this at all", Basescu told Agerpres.

On the other hand, the ex-President voiced belief that "justice will be fair with Elena Udrea" and that "the information given by her former subordinates won't ever prove to be true, since Elena Udrea is not the type of person to whom one can bring a bag full of money to the office and then she would take it with her."
