Scholar Dinu C. Giurescu, on the amendment of the Penal Code: The Embassies reactions were strange
Scholar  Dinu C. Giurescu  was Radu Tudor’s guest during the show  "Meeting Point", Sunday evening on Antenna 3.

Surrounded by protests held right at the time of broadcasting, the scholar was asked to comment the amendments made to the Penal Code, which triggered the Sunday rally.

“Sure, there were a few issues at MPs level but the reaction of diplomatic representatives  was strange. They jumped up criticising  us  and saying  these are the very reasons they do not allow us into Schengen and that’s why we are not ok. I believe  we should keep  calm and move forward, because there is a sort of pattern here. Certain international institutions want to demonstrate that we are not worthy  of being full members of the European community. With  all due respect, we are not second class. But yes, we do make mistakes that can take us there”.

"People blame us, they label us. I would like to remind you that not all professors are corrupt, not all scientists are corrupt, nor are all the MPs. I am speaking in my capacity as deputy: we  must be as open as possible with the people who have voted for us. Many times, we  give the impression that we have something to hide ", Giurescu explained.
