"I would like to ask all of you present here today to embark on this road with confidence and to show Romanians that we can do a different type of politics other than the one based on relatives and corruption clans. (...) I want to commit to this project by running in the upcoming presidential elections, " Tăriceanu said.

The President of the Senate also said that beyond this personal project, he wants to see in Romania liberal ideas and values being further represented by a liberal party .

"I think that what we are starting today, creating the Liberal Reform Party is a long project that we need to take further, because we have a responsibility to the tradition and history of liberalism in Romania, but we have a duty to the future generations who have to live in a country they must be proud of”, Tariceanu said.

The meeting held in Craiova was attended by all the presidents of the initiative groups of PLR from Dolj, Olt, Mehedinți, Vâlcea, Gorj, former PNL MPs Daniel Chițoiu, Cristian David, Grațiela Gavrilescu, Nicu Marcu, and other politicians who have joined the project.
