The best rated in the polls in the race for the president position is prime minister Victor Ponta, who joined the “President’s office” show on Antena 3 Monday night.

The PSD candidate in the presidential elections spoke about the idea of uniting Romanians, stating that Romania can achieve much more if it is united and strong.

"As far as this February I’ve been absolutely convinced that I wanted to have the best prime minister term in the office, up to 2016. The USL break up occurred, Mr. Antonescu’s leaving, the  stepping down from the candidacy in the presidential elections of Mr. Antonescu…. I’ve taken the decision to run for the office of president of Romania, because I know what Romania means, I’ve been a magistrate and I know  what justice means, I’ve been in Parliament and I know what is wrong with the legislative power (...). I know how many things can be done for Romania, with one condition: that there should be some unity between those who are leading the country”, the prime minister said Monday night on the  "President’s office show".

According to him,  a prime minister working together with the president of the country can achieve  a lot for his country.

" I’ve  decided to run for president, because the plans that we had with Crin Antonescu to change the regime, to have a Romania of  the common sense should be accomplished. Also, I’ve publicly taken on the responsibility  that I will work with those  whom the Romanians consider good, " Victor Ponta said

"I believe the prime minister office is much more difficult. There are many more things you have to solve, there are many more issues you are faced with, but the president office is the office conveying the message in the country ", he added.

Victor Ponta  has tried to convinced the Romanians that he is the best for the president’s office. Here are his main statements.

The president must represent everyone.

I believe I can unite people.

My son told me "I trust you will do a good job. You should run!"

The difference between me and the other candidates  is not only that I know this country, but I also know precisely what the problems are, I know how many of those problems I’ve solved and what I have to do in the future.

I have great trust in the Romanians. I am convinced that we are nothing less than the other people.

The things I want to do as president, I have not just come up with them a year ago. Since 2010 -2011, when we  put together the Social Liberal Union program for the economy, with Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, with  Adrian Năstase, with many others who knew, we have planned and implemented (...).

The president of Romania is in charge with representing the country, with foreign policy and national security. Unlike the other candidates, I know exactly how many deployed soldiers Romania has and where, what the budget is and the dangers that exist. I am not seeking a qualification on the job.

I will not fight the Government and the Parliament.

I will not avoid a confrontation with Iohannis.

I propose three debates for the run offs to see who is best. Those to be prime ministers also have to attend the debates because we will approach economy topics.

Pensions must never be cut.

Iohannis is not suited for the office of president.

Băsescu is Romania’s’ curse of the past 10 years.

I’ve learned from  Băsescu what not to do If I become president.
