The Senate’s Standing Bureau decided to approve the suggestion coming from the head of the committee on budget and finance in the Senate, social democrat Cosmin Nicula. He proposed that a sub-committee should be set up inside his committee to investigate and check the CEC Bank’s activity, Antenna 3 reporter reports.
The proposal forwarded by the Social Democrat was endorsed by 10 votes in favor, 2 votes against and 2 abstentions.
Premier Victor Ponta announced yesterday that the CEC Bank CEO, Radu Gheţea, will be changed from office after the ''stunt' he pulled granting a mortgage loan to Ioana Băsescu. Moreover, Ponta gave assurances that the Minister of Finance , Daniel Chiţoiu, had his full support in checking Gheţe’s management activity.
Finance Minister Daniel Chiţoiu, stated that he had been called by president Traian Băsescu, two to three weeks ago and that the President had asked him not to change Radu Gheţea from his position of CEO of CEC Bank, without reasonable grounds to that effect.
