Just like Traian Băsescu, Nicolae Ceaușescu no longer trusted anyone else besides Elena. The show producer presented a few quotations from the book ”Uncensored meditations ”, signed by Silviu Curticeanu, the director of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s cabinet.
He also presented a fragment signed by Sabinei Fati, România Liberă station journalist.
Thursday evening Traian Băsescu was stating in TV show: ”Elena Udrea was raised as a politician by me. She learned politics from me. She can create it . ( the profile of party president , editor’s note). She can create it, I am not saying she’s got the perfect profile of a party leader, but Elena Udrea has grown enormously. And I am convinced that after the experience in Roman, Elena Udrea will become a strong politician in Romania. She has got the strength, she is an intelligent woman. She wants to, she is ambitious and she is a right wing politician. You cannot make Elena Udrea favor the left wing even if you walked on her or took away the heels of her shoes”.
Another similarity between the ends of the two regimes would have been the propulsion in management positions of obedient people. Nicolae Ceaușescu’s favorite servant was Emil Bobu. “Emil is also Basescu’s servant prototype”. Emil Bobu was Elena Ceusescu’s aide, but he was also Nicolae Ceaușescu loyal partner at cards games. Also, both the Ceausescu and Basescu’s regimes propelled in management positions the president’s children.
Both Ceaușescu and Băsescu hated the press that criticized them. Nicolae Ceaușescu hated Radio Europa Liberă, while Traian Băsescu would do anything to shut down Antenna 3, even making external pressures to have them introduce hallucinating quotations into the CVM report.
The last similarity showcased the other night was the fact that Ceaușescu would marginalize his political opponents, he would often put them in jail. On the other hand, Traian Băsescu has a single goal, that of imprisoning them all.
