The moving testimony of dr. Radu Zamfir, the airplane hero: We gave them all the geographical indications!
Dr. Radu Zamfir, one of the five survivors of the Apuseni mountains air crash, told the tragic story on the Daily Summary: my colleagues were screaming, the plane was destroyed and there was fuel coming out of the wing.
The airplane hero stated that he could hear the trees trunks clashing against the airplane, and then he lost consciousness.

“You could feel the smell of gas and there was the risk of an explosion. I first examined myself, to see that I was ok, then I started looking for my colleagues. Three of them had made their own way out, there was the pilot trapped in the aircraft and the copilot was catapulted outside the airplane ”, dr Zamfir said.

Zamfir added that Adrian Iovan asked him to save him, he was trapped in the airplane’s shackles.
"Adrian Iovan was trapped under a big piece of the wing. He told me his leg was caught, I have tried to release it, he moved a little but his leg was still traped. I have tried with some instruments to lift the wing piece, but failed. Initially, he was conscious, but then he wasn’t. I have struggled to release his body, I have managed in part, but his leg was still trapped. The other colleagues have managed to get out on the side exits, where the doors had been torn away by the impact. They were hit, traumatized and in pain”, the doctor rescuer said.

According to dr. Zamfir, the young woman Aurelia Ion seemed to be in the worst state of health.

"She had vital signs and was breathing at the time (after the crashed landing of the airplane- editor’s note.)", the doctor said.

“When we crashed down there was still daylight. I had a flash light that I later used to send signals. We stayed grouped together, at a certain point we started a fire(...). I accessed Google Maps and what I found there I’ve sent them to those who had requested it (the localization coordinates – editore’s note)”, the doctor added, who admitted that he owed his life to pilot Adrian Iovan.

"I’ve lived all along with the hope that someone would find us".

The doctor confirmed that he and the other six in the crashed airplane had been found by a man "who then announced the others ".

Pilot Adrian Iovan and a student have lost their lives after a BN2 type light aircraft that had on board a medical unit crash landed Monday afternoon, in a mountains area, at over 1.200 m high at the county boarder of Cluj and Alba.

The brother of the student dead in the air crash: Aurelia would have lived if the airplane had been found sooner

There were five surgeons on board - Radu Zamfir from Fubndeni Hospital, Valentin Calu from Elias, Cătălin Pivniceru from "Sf. Maria" Hospital and Sorin Ianceu from Beiuş hospital, Bihor county -, a student and two crew members - captain Adrian Iovan and copilot Răzvan Petrescu.

The airplane wreck and the victims were found by a local inhabitant, after a nearly five hours search, attended by rescue firemen, mountaineers rescue, gendarmes, policemen, and employees of the National Park Apuseni Muntains and other locals. A SMURD chopper was sent in the area the plane crashed, but it had to pull out on account of the fog.
