"The court of Financial Control (CFCB), convened in Nyon, and took decisions on the cases referred to in a statement of December 21, 2012. Eight clubs were sanctioned on account of debts and were given until March 31 to sort out the problems, avoiding to apply the suspensions decided. FC Rapid Bucharest (Romania) and FC Arsenal Kiev (Ukraine) have not fulfilled the conditions of CFCB. Rapid Bucharest was fined EUR 100,000 and excluded from the European competition it will qualify in the future for the next three seasons (2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16), " the official website of the European court reads, quoted by Mediafax.
The other team from Romania who came to the attention of CFCB, Dinamo Bucharest has met the criteria and will evolve in continental competitions.
"CFCB confirms that Malaga (Spain), Hajduk Split (Croatia), NK Osijek (Croatia) Dinamo Bucharest (Romania), Partizan (Serbia) and Vojvodina (Serbia) fulfilled the requirements, so that sanctions do not apply," UEFA press release says.
The chairman of the Board of FC Rapid, Ion Taban, said that the announcement UEFA club made Wednesday on the sanction received by the club from the court Financial Control is not something new.
The club’s official explained that it was not about banning the participation in the European Cups for a period of three years, but for a period of one year.
‘We still have not received anything from UEFA, but that penalty is nothing new. It was ruled in December and now they announced that it will be implemented. However, the penalty ban from European competitions applies only for one of those seasons UEFA mentioned, not for three as some have understood " Taban said in a statement for Mediafax.
