Microsoft Corp. had promised to ship Windows 8 sometime in October, and on Wednesday announced the official shipping date of the operating system’s arrival – October 26.
The date was announced during Microsoft’s annual sales meeting by Steven Sinofsky, president of the company’s Windows division.
A number of PCs will also be available that date with the new OS system, but there was no news regarding whether Surface will be one of them.
Initially, a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will cost $40, but the promotional price is good only until Jan. 31, 2013.
