The decision to sentence to death of the young Romanian for drug trafficking in Malaysia is not final, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows. The Romanian citizen is left with two other option of appeal.
"The Romanian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur knows very well the situation of the Romanian citizen and has been involved in providing consular assistance in this case since the event occurred. Meanwhile, permanent contact with him has been kept throughout , as well as with his family and local authorities. According to information provided by the diplomatic missions, the sentence is not final, the judgment will be subject to appeal under local law. The man was a part-time driver on suspicion of having trafficked 1,494 grams of methamphetamine, discovered when checking his luggage at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on June 26 last year.
