"I understand that the Legal Committee approved the referendum, I hope it is voted in the plenary too whatever it would be, but I would be glad for it to be a positive one, for the sake of the good cooperation between the President and the Parliament, I am sure I will receive this signal of understanding from the Parliament, "Basescu said Monday in a press statement at Cotroceni.
Băsescu emphasized that he would trigger the referendum after two things have happened : "The first is related to the adoption of the referendum law and the second one is related to the adoption by the Parliament of the revised Constitution".
"I will make my decision about the vote between these two ", the head of state added.
He noted that he would trigger the referendum if the 2009 one was ignored, regardless whether the validation threshold was 50% or 30%.
