The new Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, made his first formal visit abroad yesterday. He came to Bucharest, where his Romanian counterpart, Dacian Cioloş, gave him assurances that this country was determined to offer reimbursable funds to Moldova.

But only if Chişinău takes concrete reform measures! Pavel Filip also met with President Klaus Iohannis, who reiterated his full support for his Cabinet.

Moldova's Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, came to Bucharest in search of a solution to take his country out of the serious political and economic crisis it is facing.

The government in Bucharest promised immediate help for needy families in Moldova to live through the winter. State reserve funds are to be used for this purpose if necessary. However, the Republic of Moldova must meet certain basic conditions before receiving the promised financial support.

The head of the Cabinet in Chişinău was given assurances by President Klaus Iohannis too that Romania would further support the Republic of Moldova.

Against the backdrop of the serious political and economic crisis Moldova is passing through, the main opposition parties in Chişinău are making efforts to overthrow the newly formed government. To top it all, if the new leaders fail to reach a new loan agreement with the IMF, Moldova will be on the brink of financial collapse.
