Ponta: When were in Chisinau the last time?
Iohannis: I have not been.
Ponta: Have you been to Italy? To Spain? How can you know if you have never spoken to them?
Iohannis: But who paid for your trip to Italy?
Ponta: The visit in Italy was paid by the PSD. We have the bills.
Iohannis: It is in vain. You still could not convince to vote for you the man who has left the country because of how hard it was for him here.
The issue of postal voting gave rise to another conflict between the two candidates. Annoyed by the arguments of Victor Ponta, Klaus Iohannis had a nervous outbreak and raised his voice at the Prime Minister. In reply, Victor Ponta warned him that he displayed the attitude of a landowner and the ACL candidate was reminded that when he came to the PM’s office he used to be was quiet and calm.
Iohannis: The committees for the constitution’s amendment debated the voting by mail and the PSD opposed.
Ponta: How do you know, you are not a member of Parliament?
Iohannis: Mr. Ponta, could you not interrupt me?
Ponta: Do not raise your voice at me. We are not your servants here in Romania. When you came to my office the last time you were very polite. Quite and calm.
Pensions’ cutting was another delicate moment for the ACL candidate. Klaus Iohannis said he did not plan to cut pensions anymore. In response, the Prime Minister reminded him that the people of Traian Băsescu, now regrouped around the ACL candidate were those who signed the documents in 2010 which attempted to cut pensions. Specifically, Cătălin Predoiu and Vasile Blaga were those who wanted and signed the reduction of pensioners income.
Iohannis: Mr. Ponta, why have you lied saying I would cut pensions?
Ponta: Offending isn’t honoring you. You are being surrounded by a team of people made up those who cut the pensions. I told the people what you would do, what you have already done. Your colleges have done it.
Iohannis: I can guarantee that pensions will not be cut as long as I am president.
Ponta: Is this your newspaper? The one reporting that Victor Ponta and Daciana Sârbu committed forgeries by omissions ? You have filed a complaint against my family. Can I ask you to apologize to my wife? Could you do that?
KI: Just like you have never sent anyone to my family’s, we have not done those things either.
VP: I am only asking you to apologies for this report, because this is written by the ACL.
KI: Just as soon as you have apologized, on behalf of your team, for accusing me of children and organs trafficking. As soon as you apologize for saying that I am not a good Romanian, that I am a German, that I am not a good Orthodox, but a Protestant. You have conducted the most miserable campaign ever seen in Romania.
The topic of Justice was not exactly to the liking of Klaus Iohannis. In an apparent attack on corrupt elected officials in Parliament, the Mayor of Sibiu has forgotten about the skeletons in his own closet. Specifically the cases of investigated or convicted MPs that are found in both the PDL and the Liberal Party. The prime minister recalled that in his position as head of the Government, there were opened more criminal cases investigating MPs than in any other period.
Iohannis: It's unacceptable to have MPs who cannot be investigated because PSD votes against investigating. These things must be changed.
VP: Unlike your empty words, I can guarantee with facts. The current head of DNA was proposed by me. The HCCJ President, Mrs. Stanciu, was endorsed by me. Then it was the SCM and ANI. All I have done as premier, I will continue as president. I want to remind Mr. Iohannis that Mr. Vosganian is in a delicate situation, Mr. Victor Paul Dobre is longer a senator, Mr. Mora was declared definitively incompatible and he is in Parliament. Mr. Chiuariu was irrevocably condemned. Today DNA proposed the arrest of PNL Prahova County boss, Mr. Rosca.
The cons of the two presidential candidates continued in the economic zone. Although he has avoided answering direct questions related to current economic figures, Klaus Iohannis has attacked Victor Ponta, arguing that the government he leads has been catastrophic. In reply, Victor Ponta has promised that, under his and Călin Popescu Tariceanu’s leadership , Romania will remain the most powerful economy in the region.
"There is a lot of polishing on the outside and inside there's nothing." It's Victor Ponta’s reply against Klaus Iohannis when the two spoke about the USL project. The Premier reminded that the USL broke up when Iohannis wanted to be deputy PM and this has not happened. The ACL candidate Victor Ponta replied that USL broke because the PSD wanted all the power.
Victor Ponta's answer to the final question of Klaus Iohannis left the liberal candidate speechless. Iohannis asked Ponta if he would support him with his vote in the Sunday's election, reminding him that the PSD leader had said he had voted in the past with Ion Ratiu and Crin Antonescu. Victor Ponta said that had nothing to do with this because on the inside Iohannis was only another Traian Basescu.
With Victor Ponta’s answer ended the confrontation between the two opponents, without Iohannis commenting the comparison with Traian Basescu.
