Klaus Iohannis delimits himself from the PNL choice to have Marian Munteanu run on the party’s behalf for the City Hall, a release by the Presidential Administration reads.
"The Romanian President has not proposed, has not imposed the PNL leadership to support this candidacy, therefore he is not involved in any way in this proposal. The decision to support Marian Munteanu belongs strictly to the PNL leadership following internal evaluations ", reads the official release.
Marian Munteanu has signed the adhesion to become Liberal, and this should be validated by the Liberal organization of District 1, said PNL Bucharest spokesman, Cezar Preda.
Marian Munteanu was president of the Students' League in the early 90s. Later, he was the first president of the Civic Alliance. In 2000, he had a brief affair with politics, namely the party of Virgil Magureanu, being on the verge to run for president of Romania.
