How to get free Wi-Fi in Romania
The European Commision announced the program 'WiFi4EU' through which municipalities can request financial hep for the installation of free points of WiFi throughout the city.
According to sources at first there will be given 15.000 euros for the first 2.800 municipalities followed by at least 15 vouchers for each member state, on the basis of 'first come, first served'. The voucher can be used for the installation of WiFi in public spaces: parks, shopping centers, libraries, museums and health centers.
So far one of five municipalities has been registered in the EU program. Over the next two years, three more projects will follow and a total of 120 million euros will be allocated for up to 8,000 EU municipalities by 2020.
'WiFi4EU' networks will be free of charge, without any advertising and will not collect personal data. Funding will only be granted to networks that will not overlap with free, public or private offers, that are already existing and are of a similar quality in the same public space.
