Taxi fees will go up in Bucharest. Here is how much the drivers will ask

Taxi companies are announcing a rise in cab fares. The change comes after gas prices and car maintenance went up and drivers can not keep up with the costs. 

Some companies already rose prices by 1.99 LEI per kilometer.

However drivers are still negotiating their prices and refusing clients. If they are caught they risk a 500 lei fee. Around the train station Gara de Nord, no matter the set price, they ask for 3.50 LEI per kilometer, the maximum that is allowed

In other cities, such as Timisoara and Constanta the fee is already 2.50 LEI compared to 1.69 LEI in Bucharest.
