Catalin Botezatu’s name appears in the Netherlands paintings theft case file . It seems that a man from the Republic of  Moldova who allegedly knew the three Romanians who had stolen the paintings from the Netherlands went  to Cătălin Botezatu’s assistant . The two then went to businessman Constantin Dinescu and showed him  two of the stolen paintings.

The businessman had the paintings assessed by an expert. The works of art were assessed at 60 million Euros. Then, the businessman realized they were patrimony paintings and declined buying them.

The information is contained in the 5th District Court motivation in   the arrest of the three Romanians suspected of having stolen the  paintings from the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam.

The paintings stolen from the Netherlands passed through Romania, and now they could be anywhere. The suspects were apprehended but they would not say where the works of art, worth millions of Euros,  have got to.

The three  citizens of Tulcea allegedly gave the strike of the century, in November last year. They have allegedly stolen  from a museum in Rotterdam 7 paintings.  The paintings  were part of the Triton Foundation private collections of the businessman  Willem Cordia and they were ensured  for 18 million Euros.

Sources within the investigation state the accused  do not seem to be any geniuses and that they did not act like in the movies, dodging lasers. They have set off the fire alarm, as simple as that.
