President Klaus Iohannis received on Monday at Cotroceni Palace, Michael Fallon, the British Minister of Defence, following the meeting, the two have emphasized the strengthening of the strategic partnership and the fact that Romanian-British military exercises within NATO will become regular practice, Mediafax reports.

According to a press release from the Presidential Administration, during the discussions between the Romanian President Klaus Johannis and the British Defence Minister, Michael Fallon the two emphasized the strengthening of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United Kingdom in the context of the tense situation on the Eastern border of NATO and the EU.

"Romanian-British military exercises within NATO will become a regular practice," adds the Presidential Administration.
Another topic on the agenda was the situation in Moldova and Ukraine, the British Defence Minister noted that his country wants an expansion of the trade relations with the Republic of Moldova.

"The Romanian President drew attention in his turn to the major economic difficulties that Ukraine is going through and the humanitarian catastrophe in this country," the Presidential Administration press release states.

British Defence Minister, Michael Fallon, is on a visit to Bucharest, where he met with President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Victor Ponta and his Romanian counterpart, Mircea Dusa, the British Embassy informs.
