Romania has to start from scratch and have patience, says Richard Quest, the famous CNN journalist known for his extremely accurate economic analyses.

Quest says he was impressed by his first visit to Romania and advises Romanians to work and the government not to set themselves targets that they cannot achieve.

The most important economic analyst of CNN, producer of very important programs and reports, Richard Quest, was Thursday night in the studio of Antena 3, where he did radiography of Romania and its economic problems and provided his advice for our country.

Richard Quest has some advice for the government, but also for the Romanians: to focus their efforts on the basics and no longer propose to quickly reach the same level of highly developed countries.

The CNN analyst says that Romanians have to have patience, but admits that a competent leader is needed to put Romania on the right track.

The famous journalist draws the attention that progress cannot be possible without a fierce struggle against corruption and the untouched reign of the rule of law.

The  strategic games, the  position towards the world powers, what  Romania must do for  a better life and an image according to its wealth and beauty - all this talk and more were discussed by the  CNN star,  Richard Quest, with Radu Tudor and the former head of Romanian diplomacy,  Mircea Geoana.

Here are the main statements by Richard Quest:

Today was the first day I set foot in Romania, but I think it's much better to visit someone's home and yet not to criticize the  wallpaper.

I'm impressed now, I like what I see. If I come on holiday? Invite me and I'll come.

What Romania and its citizens should do to live better?

You need basic things, you cannot reach the same level of as the  rich countries and their GDP.

This country provided the insulin; this pen was invented in Romania.
The fight against corruption, the rule of law - these are the important things, you've gotten over the heavy staff

Keep your route as you have started, under the rule of law.

The geographical position of Romania is unique in the world, you have agriculture, you can have industry, you can have exports, you have the Black Sea that can take you to Asia

You should not you feel insecure, if you follow the path you started.

Adrian Măniuţiu, producer of the programs  Income and  Daily Income on Antena 3, questions for  Richard Quest

1.     After an impressive career, 12 years of BBC and nearly 14 of CNN, if you could go back in time now, would you do anything different?

What would I do differently? I would not have worked so hard, to get where I am

2. If you had been the Prime Minister of Romania for a week and your job would be to stimulate business in Romania, which would be the most important stimulus measures you would propose?

If I were prime minister for a week in Romania, I would work as hard as I could, I would try to know as many people to  see what they want and then I would return to my office and I would tell those like them, to get down to business.

and then I'd blame you  the media, for not reporting it right ( he laughs – editor’s note)

What should we do  to live  better in Romania economically?

To overheat the  economy in a big way to generate growth. Nothing is more dangerous than a government trying to spend very much and then take hard  measures.

To have well-paid jobs, and steer clear of any  finance minister who says he has all the answers. Then when he says that he has got them, look in your pockets, that will cost you very much

Richard Quest: Definitely, we are still in an economic recess

We are in an economic crisis, have we overcome this crisis?

In Europe, we are definitely in economic recess. Euro will survive, but the banking sector, if you look at France or the employment rate in Italy and Spain, yes, we are in crisis. Therefore, yes, we are still in economic recess.

Who is  Richard Quest

Richard Quest is a lawyer, but chose a career in televisions being  today one of the most popular anchors of CNN. He  is famous for a series of shows and live rounds of comments under the Breaking News, but especially for "Quest Means Business" – an  economic analysis show conducted and presented in its own way especially in prime time on CNN, and  which has become the benchmark of  profile broadcasts.

Although  he is still waiting to make an interview with Barack Obama, there are few heads of company and leading politicians who have not yet crossed his  threshold  for a live broadcast or a program produced by him.

Lately, Richard Quest is the  CNN star, the one designed to manage and present the most dramatic events and news. He sent and analyzed, for example, the tragic events related to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines 370 airplane earlier this year, and those related to the shooting down of  the plane of the same company, in July, in Ukraine, where over 230 people died.

Before entering the CNN family, Richard Quest has worked for the BBC  broadcasting from Wall Street in New York, for more than 12 years. When he does not present major events, he deals with economic analyzes whereby he teaches us what to do and how to spend our money.

The principle on which Richard Quest grounds his  success is simple: he always finds interesting and important topic to  related and he  shares it all, explaining first why the topic is one that counts.
