The French car market shrank by 9.4% in January-August to 1.4 million cars sold, compared to over 1.55 million in the same period last year, according to data presented Monday by the French Car Manufacturers Association , CCFA.
Dacia market share in France rose to 4.47% from 3.83% in the first eight months of last year, writes Mediafax.
The Japanese brand Toyota registered a similar increase to Dacia, but at a lower volume of sales. Toyota car registrations in France rose 5.8% in the period surveyed reaching 48.070 units.
Dacia has limited the decline in growth registered by Renault. Renault group sales fell by 7.9% in the period surveyed to 350,286 cars. Renault has shown a decline of 10.4% , down to 287,457 units.
Volkswagen, the biggest European carmaker, had sales of 168,972 cars in France in the first eight months, down by 10.7%.
Luxury Brands also have registered declines, except for Lexus, but which has a much lower sales volume compared to the European companies.
