Laura Oprean was delegated Tuesday as the new chief prosecutor of the DNA for a six months period by order of Daniel Morar, first deputy to the prosecutor general, according to a press release of PICCJ, quoted by Agerpres.
By order of Mr. Daniel Marius Morar, first deputy to the prosecutor general of the Prosecutor’s office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the delegation was ordered starting today, October 2nd , 2012, for a period of six months, of Mrs. Laura Oprean (direction deputy chief prosecutor) as chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Direction’, the PICCJ press release reads.
The delegation of Laura Oprean as head of the DNA comes after Daniel Morar has taken over Tuesday the interim office for the position of Prosecutor General of Romania, considering that Laura Codruţa Kovesi concluded her term as head of the Public Ministry.
Codruţa Kovesi announced Monday that starting Tuesday, October 2nd , the day her term in the office of prosecutor general of Romania ceased, she delegated, for a six months period, the DNA chief prosecutor, Daniel Morar, as first deputy to the general prosecutor, an office previously held by Marius Iacob (who had also been delegated not appointed to this position).
Currently, both the DNA and the General Prosecutor’s Office have interim managements, the mandates of the heads of these institutions have expired on August 12th , 2012 and October 2nd, 2012 respectively. In August, the DNA’s chief prosecutor’s term in the office, Daniel Morar’s, was also extended for a six months period.
Applications for the positions of chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of Cassation and Justice and the National Anticorruption Direction can be submitted by October 3rd , after the originally announced deadline, September 24th , was extended by the Ministry of Justice.
