Premier Victor Ponta will address Tuesday, at 13.00 o’clock , the reunited plenum of the Parliament regarding the topic of the position Romania should adopt at the European Council extraordinary reunion regarding the EU multiannual financial framework for 2014-2020.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea, stated Monday that the Parliament should adopt subsequent to the debates on the topic, a decision or a resolution.
‘I think this debate is appropriate and we have accepted the premier’s point of view regarding the EU multi annual budgetary framework 2014-2020, so that the political parties should take part in this debate. I believe a debate in the Parliament is welcomed. It is the obligation of every deputy and senator, who at this time has a mandate to show that this institution (the Parliament), is working and is defending Romania’s interests’, Zgonea stated.
Valeriu Zgonea specified that in order to be adopted, by vote, such a decision or resolution of Parliament would need to be proposed by a member of the Parliament who should submit to vote such a draft decision, or resolution.
A summit on the EU budget for 2014-2020 will take place in Brussels on Thursday, in an environment that promises to be tensed. The European Council President Herman van Rompuy recommended last week a reduction of EUR 75 billion from the draft budget of 1.033 billion euros, forwarded by the European Commission.
The European Council President wants to reduce by 29.5 billion the credit payment required for the cohesion policy and by 25.5 billion the aids for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), an option rejected by countries such as Poland, Romania, France, Spain and Portugal .
