Romania, one of the few countries in the world to benefit from an effective earthquake warning
Romanians could be warned 30 to 40 seconds before a major earthquake occurred in  Vrancea .

That became possible after the installation in the counties of Romania and the districts of Bulgaria of seismic stations and  special gear.
 
These instruments reduce the loss of lives and the destruction of goods and property produced by major earthquake.

The system is one of the few currently operational worldwide, along the ones in Japan and Mexico.
